SCRIPT:
My name is _____ and I am calling regarding the ongoing abuse of detainees at Delany Hall. I am horrified by the video and testimony coming from Delany Hall. There are reports of poor living conditions, abuse and neglect, and inadequate medical care. I, echoing the call from our community members inside the detention center, am demanding the immediate release of vulnerable detainees, including elderly individuals, pregnant women, young people, and those with serious medical conditions. I am also demanding that Governor Mikie Sherrill meets with detainees in person and immediately opens the roads leading to Delaney, currently closed by NJ State Police in collaboration with ICE. The plan of action the Governor and her team detailed during the presser is completely insufficient. Our movement will not accept overtures that amount to nothing more than political theater. I urge you to do everything in your power to encourage her to meet with detainees. We cannot allow this abuse of our immigrant neighbors to continue.
