In New Jersey, history is made by broad-based movements of working class people. North New Jersey DSA is the regional chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. We believe that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few. From the Paterson Silk Strike of 1913 to the Newark Rebellion of 1967, the BLM protests of 2020 to glimpses today of an ascendant labor movement, North NJ DSA is building on the legacy of working-class organizing from the bottom up. We use a variety of tactics, from legislative to direct action, to fight for reforms that empower working people.,
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the existing housing crisis (where a third of NJ workers were rent burdened) has greatly deepened due to loss of income and largely inadequate government response.
Housing is a human right and no one should have to fight for their homes without fair representation. It’s time to demand Jersey City pass a right to counsel for tenants. Join the class struggle campaign to organize and win.
Let’s recommit to DSA, take on projects and grow our capacity to build working class power in North Jersey.
