J Street Is the Liberal Wing of Genocide. Analilia Mejia Should Drop Their Endorsement.

Friday, April 10th 2026 — Today, Congressional candidate Analilia Mejia, running for NJ-11, previously the only anti-genocide candidate in the race, announced she had accepted the endorsement of the J Street Zionist lobby group. The North New Jersey Democratic Socialists of America condemn Mejia’s heel turn on this as a disgusting move.

J Street is a liberal Zionist organization committed to the settler colonial project in Palestine that fiercely opposes the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions (BDS) movement and denies the US-Israel perpetrated Gaza genocide and the apartheid character of Israel. JStreet exists as a way to reinforce the supremacist Zionist project while maintaining rhetorical distance from the more open bloodlust of AIPAC and the Likud party. This is the organization Mejia says she “[looks] forward to working in partnership” with.

As part of the group’s own endorsement criteria, “JStreetPAC only supports candidates who affirm this responsibility [“ensuring Israel’s future as a secure, democratic homeland for the Jewish people”] and who commit to supporting US security assistance to Israel as outlined in the 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) negotiated by President Obama – including sustained support for vital systems like Iron Dome.” It should be noted that the Iron Dome is what enables Israel to brazenly pursue its goals of settler colonial expansion and genocide.

By accepting their endorsement, Mejia has consciously decided to affirm her support for Zionist settler colonialism, tyranny, racism, and apartheid.
North New Jersey DSA stands in full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation. It is this which separates the socialist movement, which stands uncompromisingly against all oppression, from the inconsistency and capitulation of countless “progressive” Democrats. The people of NJ-11, many of whom feel betrayed, deserve better. We unequivocally call on Analilia Mejia to reject this endorsement and oppose all aid to Israel; to do otherwise is a betrayal of her stated values against genocide.
